Congratulations Christie and Nate!

We had so much fun during their engagement session in Monterey, California. One of the things I really loved is Nate and Christie thought a lot about their relationship and used ideas based on that. For instance, they have gone out for walks several times when it clear and ended up in the rain. Therefore...the umbrella, a cute and meaningful prop...also, you will see below some marine themed photos...Nate is in the Navy, which inspired those photos.

Such a special and anointed couple. I am going to need some Kleenex at their ceremony I am sure as both of their father's are pastor's and they both are going to perform the ceremony together. What a memory and testimony that will be.

Fess Parker Winery is so amazing. I love the detail they have put into this room, and check out these bridesmaids. With just one suggestion of me needing volunteers to sit on the counter and pose around, they were on it. Such gorgeous girls!

Breanne is such a beauty! Her dress was certainly made just for her. I loved all of the details and the lines....and just look at those eyes. Stunning!

Then...the men! This group of guys were so much fun it was hard to get them to be serious. We photographers love that.

Eric has such an amazing personality and is such a loyal friend. You can tell by how much everyone loved him. He was also an amazing asset with his planning. He had the day planned down to the minute...I'm not kidding. Plus, the great thing was, everything was relaxed and we ran on time.

Eric and Breanne were so much fun to photograph. Not only are they head over heals in love with each other, they love to have fun and were willing to travel all over the property for all of the photo ideas. LOVE THEM!

So, Breanne works at Whodelicious in Santa Barabara. She requested a shot of their rings in one of the cupcakes. I love shadows and reflections so it was fun to capture the detail in the rigged cupcake paper to ground this photo.

What a gorgeous day for a gorgeous couple.

Breanne had this groom's cake made as a surprise for Eric. It is incredible. She also had the great idea to have her bridesmaids dress Eric in Raider BBQ gear (apron, hat, knife, spatula) to cut his groom's cake. Hilarious and sweet. So fun!

This cake is almost too pretty to eat. The close up detail is simply amazing. I don't know how Decadence does it. Stunning.

Kramer DJs rocked the house (or the lawn) the rest of the night. It was a perfect night.

The night wasn't complete until we skipped down the road to Maverick Saloon for a few shots, or um, photos I should say.

Eric and Breanne, congratulations again. You two are so fun, sweet and have hearts of gold. Love to you both!

Congratulations Trevor and Stephanie! These two sweet love birds were married at the infamous Santa Margarita Ranch in California. You can tell how amazing people are by the guests at their wedding. There was so much love and support for Stephanie and Trevor that I know they give so much of themselves to those around them. What an honor to capture this important time in their lives.

I just love how many different backdrops the ranch offers...an old bank building, the barn, walnut grove, hills, oak trees, an old movie theater marque and of course a vintage train from Disneyland...fully operational.

This bouquet wraps up Stephanie's personality...so sunny and sweet...and beautiful.

This was Trevor's idea, to take a photo where the train tracks come together. LOVE IT!

We were super excited when we found out Alphy's Broiler was the caterer. Not only is their food incredible, but so is their staff and service.

So sweet! Cristi and Jorge's engagement session at the Vintage Trailer Show in Pismo Coast Village. What an amazing idea. I wasn't sure what we would find, but just look at the different set ups. A big thank you to all of the great people who let us take photos with their amazing collections!

Even the insides of the trailers were perfectly set up with vintage props.

I cannot believe there was even a clothes line. We had to take some shots of Cristi doing the laundry while Jorge supervised!

A gentleman from one of the trailers came up and handed us this vintage magazine. Cristi's hair and lips were perfect for this shot...and look at the color for Jorge, amazing.

Cristi's hair and make up were done by the amazing Rhonda Johnson of Bridal Makeup and Hair. She is such a sincere person inside and out, plus an amazing artist as well. Cristi's hair stood up to the wind...what a great pre-wedding test!

Cristi and Jorge love vintage cameras...LOVE THESE PEOPLE!

It was amazing the amount of manikins we came across on the shoot. I asked Jorge to flirt with this one and Cristi was up for acting jealous...these two are so fab-u-lous!!!!

We ended at the beach...just love the swimsuit. They had the looks down. Congratulations you two...can't wait to see all of your creative ideas at your wedding.

Congratulations Emily and Aaron....what an amazing wedding. First, I L-O-V-E their colors. They just so happen to match my marketing materials. Chartreuse and grey. I think grey is the new brown, an amazing neutral to draw your colors together.

OK...I know I have a shoe fetish. But, seriously look at these. They are gorgeous and helped Emily get a little closer to her man.

Love all of the different spots I get to capture the details in Judi's home. She recently repainted and redecorated some rooms. I don't know how she does it and pulls off incredible events each weekend.

These doves are so peaceful.

The bouquets Denise designed were simply fantastic. I found these books on one of Judi's shelves and had to use them for this shot. Denise is such a joy to work with. Her floral creations match the style of the couples she works with so perfectly.

Check out this boutonniere. LOVE IT! So unique and not too crazy for the guys. Just the right touch.

Emily was such a gracious bride. So beautiful and sweet. Her day totally reflected her personality.

Then...the men! Great shot by the amazing Summer Schmitz my second photographer.

Look how happy they are to be marrying each other. This is why I do what I do. I am blessed by you guys.

Take a look at the flower girl. She just adores Emily and Aaron. Also, look closely at the spheres hanging above Emily and Aaron. Emily's dad made all of these. They are from the rings around wine barrels. I love the symbolism of them. Aaron works in the wine industry, they are circles so they are unending like love.

We found this car in the parking lot. Aaron was happy to sport his shades.

These french doors are a new addition at The Dana-Powers House + Barn. What a great idea for the entrance to the barn reception.

Emily and Aaron's guest book. These come standard in all our packages.

The Hitching Post II in Buellton prepared an amazing meal for the guests. Their famous bbq artichoke hearts were very popular. As I was preparing this blog post I realized how perfect a name for a wedding caterer..."The Hitching Post" ha! I realize they provide much more than wedding food, however it was a fun realization.

Get thee to The Cakery....a lovely cake once again. Their cakes are not only beautiful they also stand the test of time and don't lean. That is a tough thing to accomplish when transporting a cake and then having it sit for a few hours until it can be enjoyed.

This photo doesn't even do this arrangement justice. It was so stunning. Great job Denise. I always love it when I pull up to a wedding and the florist has a trailer to bring all of the flowers in. That means there will be lots of amazingness to photograph.

A closer look at Emily's dad's creations. I love all of the lines in the barn. Architecture adds such interest to photos. Emily's mom totally recreated the scene in the barn. Nothing was the same. The tables were long rectangles, not rounds and so much more. Check out the slide show above to see more pics.

Emily and Aaron make a barrel and bottled their own wine for their guests as favors. They even hand stamped all of the corks with their 'W'. I just love all of the personal touches.

The Jazz band really set the stage and completed the entire evening. Everyone was cutting a rug all night long.

The final piece de resistance...the desserts by Sweet Pea. The strawberries are from our own Rutiz Farms. The best strawberries on the central coast in my opinion. They are grown without pesticides. From the cake pops to the "W" cookies everything was perfect and delicious. The guests kept emptying the table and Sweet Pea kept bringing out more perfection confections.

Congratulations again to Emily and Aaron. You two are so sweet. It was pure joy to be a part of this first day of your marriage to each other.

One note of interest...Emily's parents were the first couple to exchange their vows at The Dana-Powers House over 30 years ago. What a legacy.

Look at these amazing designs from Tami at Fleur. She never ceases to amaze me. I love the curly willow gate below. When the groom and groomsmen walked down the aisle they opened the gate for everyone else to walk down the aisle. Such a sweet idea!

Love, love, love Ellen's hair and makeup. It was flawless thanks to Rhonda Johnson. She is always so calm and sweet. I am very picky about the hair stylists and makeup artists I refer because if they are running late it can back up the entire schedule....Rhonda is always on time and with gorgeous results.

Ellen is so classy and a natural beauty. Look at how happy Bob is to get to marry his Ellen.

The ring bearers were awesome! When kids are around the ages of 4-8 or so sometimes a natural 'smile for the camera' just doesn't seem real. These boys were happy to give me some great expressions.

Olivia performed a wonderful ceremony. It was just right and so personal.

Congratulations Ellen and Bob! You two are so perfect together. Your family and friends were such a joy to get to know as well.

It wouldn't be right if we didn't end the event with a Cakery Cake. Their cakes always look amazing throughout the reception.

The Paso Robles Inn debuted their patio for this event. It was a gorgeous brunch served for Ellen and Bob's guests. The food spread was over the top gorgeous, plus the staff at the Inn are such great hosts.

The San Luis Obispo United Methodist Church has amazing lighting inside the sanctuary, but also some unique and picturesque spots outside. Not to mention this amazing window you see Alexxa in above. I really enjoyed the diverse photos we were able to capture on their grounds. Not to mention how amazingly easy Kristyn, their wedding planner, was to work with. She made everyone feel so welcome and everything flowed so smoothly.

Grant and the guys got ready at the Avila Lighthouse Suites. The beauty of including a second photographer in your wedding package is that some of your hours are doubled. While Amy was working with Alexxa and her girls, Summer our amazing second photographer met Grant in Avila for some fun shots there.

What a sweet exchange between Alexxa and Grant. Like I mentioned the window lighting was gorgeous in the church.

After we left the church we stopped by Suite Edna, at Old Edna. Amy had made previous arrangements with the owner to make sure they wouldn't be interrupting their business. All of the details were perfectly suited for Alexxa and Grant's style.

Their bridal party were the sweetest people. Such a testimony of the kind of people Alexxa and Grant are. Thanks everyone for being so fun to photograph.

After we had our fun at Suite Edna we made our way to San Luis Obispo Country Club. Bill, their wedding coordinator extraordinaire had golf carts lined up and waiting for Alexxa and Grant and their bridal party. After Bill made sure everyone had a glass of champagne and some appetizers he led us out to this amazing spot on the course.

Paul Thompson of Escape Entertainment went above and beyond as their MC and DJ for the evening. Take note of the pink lighting in the background. This was set up by Paul. Adding up-lighting to your event really adds to the room, but also your photos have lots more depth and a real celebration feel. He was continuously making sure everyone was taken care of from the bride and groom to the photographers. He is a real professional to the core.

Alexxa and Grant...we were so blessed to be a part of this first day of your marriage to each other. I look so forward to seeing how God uses you two together as one.

This dress was made for Michelle. I am convinced! It fit her perfectly. Gorgeous girl!

Michelle's friend and bridesmaid Lauren hand made all of the jewelry. It was the perfect compliment to her amazing dress.

These flowers were designed by Eileen Calandro. The special locket is in memory of Michelle's step-dad Danny a super special guy that is extremely missed. We love you Danny.

Michelle and Joe's friend Chris just happened to have an extra bus he could cart around the wedding party in. I LOVE it!

Joe's family farms avocados and lemons (maybe more...sorry if I missed something.) They have a beautiful home on the farm where we got to take the getting ready shots.

Michelle and Joe decided to see each other before the ceremony. Such a special moment. When couples decide to see each other before hand we choose a picturesque place and the moment is amazing!

The ceremony was performed by Fr. Ed. His words spoke to the hearts of all the married couples attending. He has the biggest heart and loves God's people so much you can feel it when you talk to him.

This gorgeous food not only had great presentation, but was well enjoyed by all the guests! Great job Catering Unlimited. Everything was amazing and right on time.

The first time I saw this fantastic wall at the Monarch Club I knew we had to take a bridesmaid shot in front of it. Everything was so beautiful and the perfect setting for Michelle and Joe's larger wedding. The staff at the Monarch Club did a fabulous job!

Jamie and Dusty tied the knot at the Gardens at Peacock Farms in Arroyo Grande. It was literally the perfect day. It started out overcast and cool, which is great for pictures. Especially during the ceremony. Then, just as Dusty dipped Jamie for their first kiss the sun broke through the clouds. So amazing!

I so enjoy working with the girls from Tutta Bella Salon in Arroyo Grande. Their hair and makeup stands up to the demands of the wedding day. I not only appreciate how Jamie's hair and makeup were so beautiful, but they also run on schedule which is so important, especially at the start of the day.

The Gardens at Peacock Farms had so much to offer in regards to not only the beautiful setting, but all of the details Jessica has hand picked. Also, Jessica did a beautiful job on all of the floral designs for Jamie's day. From the bouquets to the flowers lining the aisle. Everything was not only elegantly designed, but very fresh and lasted throughout the day and night.

Jack Hutchinson was their videographer and he is such a treat to work with. He attended the rehearsal and we were able to set out a plan so we could capture Jamie and Dusty's wedding seamlessly without being in each others shots etc. A little prep goes a long way. Jack is such a professional.

I had the great privilege to work with a long time friend and past co-worker Pete Robinson. Pete had been the DJ for Dusty's brothers weddings and came out of retirement just for Dusty's wedding. Pete is such a blessing and really kept the crowd going out on the dance floor.

The Optimist Club provided the catering for Jamie and Dusty's hungry crowd. They were able to get everyone through the lines quickly and nothing beats their BBQ skills.

A huge thanks to all of the amazing vendors we had the privilege of working with. Rhonda Johnson was so amazing with the hair and makeup, and right on time. I always am so appreciative when the stylists run on schedule as it is so important to get the day started on time. Not to mention how great Sarah's hair looked all day and all night.
The bouquets and boutonnières were designed by Tami of Fleur Flowers. The flowers for the fellas are one of my most favorite designs.
It was such a treat to work with Linda and her staff again out at Avila Beach Resort. They have such servants attitudes and are so gracious. Linda even drove us to some extra places on the golf course for Sarah and Joel's photos.
The centerpieces were designed and created by the mother of the groom, Judith Conn. I just loved the colors and textures she used. Just the right amount of height and flowers. Plus, the succulents were a fantastic addition.
How could you go wrong with selecting different cakes from the Madonna Inn for dessert. Plus, there was a flavor I had not seen "toffee crunch." Amazing! The guests certainly left room for dessert.
Speaking of the guests, Perry of Kramer Entertainment and Lighting kept them dancing throughout the night. He played the perfect mix of songs for this crowd.
To round out the evenings events Sarah and Joel asked Shutter Booth to be a part of the evening. Their staff were so professional, not to mention the guests had a great time taking photos in the booth throughout the evening.
What fun memories were made this day. Thanks for letting us share in your joyous occasion!

What an amazing day. Nicole and Robert, it was so special be a part of your day. I know you have been waiting for this for a long time and it was an honor to witness your marriage.

A big thank you to all of the amazing vendors I had the privilege of working with. Without all of you doing your job above and beyond I wouldn't be able to capture the photos Nicole and Robert will cherish for the rest of their lives. First I want to thank Kim and Co. for doing such an amazing job on the hair and makeup. Nicole's hair stood the wind test at Pismo Beach and dancing all night. Her makeup was picture perfect as well. Plus, they were right on time which meant the pictures could start when we scheduled them.

The flowers by Amanda at Shell Beach Floral Design were the perfect pop of color, the perfect scale and detail. Love her talent. One of the greatest things I love about Amanda is how her flowers stay fresh throughout the day and evening and how 'bullet proof' the bouquets are. This means so much when we are putting them in every different position for photos and want them still to look perfect for the ceremony and reception. Love it!

The Cliffs Resort was the perfect getting ready and reception location. The bridal suite was very spacious and had tons of natural lighting for getting ready. The Cliff's staff is 5 star all the way, always so willing to help. Not to mention the menu items Nicole and Robert selected. The chefs really pulled out all of the stops. Their guests really enjoyed everything.

The reception couldn't have been any better thanks to Sean of AMS Entertainment. First, the lighting. Look at those lights in the background of Nicole and Robert's first dance. I did not manipulate the colors at all. This is it. I highly suggest adding up-lighting to wedding receptions. It creates the perfect party and celebration mood for your guests, and your photos benefit as well. It can be a very dramatic improvement. Sean kept everyone dancing all night long. He has such a gift of reading a crowd and what keeps them moving and grooving.

Christine and Shawn's wedding so simply sweet. All of the details were amazing! They met when Christine moved from California to New York and one of her friends put her in touch with Shawn to help be her guide in the big city. Needless to say they hit it off.

The 'something blue' box was painted by one of Christine's friends. All of her "bridesmaids in spirit" gave her this gorgeous ring as her something blue.

I love the atmosphere at the Dana Powers House. Each room is so fun to shoot in. The getting ready room is so pretty. The perfect backdrop for these photos.

Speaking of perfect...check out this bouquet from Laurel at Adornments. These peonies look almost fake they are so perfect. They arrived on ice and Laurel spritzed them to make sure they would stay fresh. I love the ribbons and lace draping down as well. The perfect touch. Christine's bouquet looked like this throughout the entire day and evening. Simply amazing! Wonderful job Laurel.

It was so fun to work with Ryan Lee as the videographer. He is so classy and stealth. His passion to capture every moment and intrude on what is going on is such a gift.

That look...the exchange. This shot was captured moments after Christine and Shawn walked down the aisle after saying "I do."

Just more reasons to love the Dana Powers property. These orange trees add such a fun pop of color.

Shawn didn't even realize he was in this shot. He was simply admiring his wife....so precious.

Details! I love details. First of all, more amazing designs from Adornments. The lamb's ear foliage is an amazing color of gray next to all of the pink.

Central Coast Culinary created the best salad I have enjoyed in a long time. Not only were their dishes amazing, their staff were so sweet and caring.

Their first dance...love this refection shot set up by the amazing Summer Schmitz, my second shooter.

The sunlight was our friend for sure.
Another amazing cake by the infamous Judy Knapp. There wasn't even one piece left, the guests loved this cake.

Thank you...thank you...thank you to Christine and Shawn. You are such a blessing to be around. Sharing in your wedding day was so special. Your family and friends are a testimony of how much you care for each other and those in your life. Congratulations!

Krissy and Justin were married at Justin's parents barn on their cattle ranch. Krissy, Justin and many others have worked so hard over the last several months to get the barn ready for this amazing wedding. I saw the barn when we were at the ranch for their engagement session and what a transformation. They cleared out all of the hay, built a dance floor and burned their brands into the floor. So cool! Plus, so much more work went into making this barn reception ready.

Krissy had so many super cute details. Her purse was designed by her sister-in-law, plus she gave all of her bridesmaids a purse from Moda Viajando as well. When Justin proposed to Krissy he took her on a ride in the Polaris Ranger way down to a creek to "check on something" (I hope I am getting this right.) He had been down there previously and carved "MARRY ME" into a tree and had her ring hanging from the tree. So romantic! Great job Justin.

These picture perfect flowers are a creation by Tami Raivo of Fleur- Flowers. They were exactly what Krissy had envisioned. Another sign of an amazing florist is not only how sweet, balanced and creative the bouquets are, but also how they hold up throughout the day. These flowers did amazing. Great job Tami!

Krissy's hair and makeup were flawless. I cannot believe in how here hair stayed in perfect place with all of the wind we experienced that day. Her makeup also photographed really well, wonderful job Joy!

The boys posed for a picture in Justin's family's farm house. Say cheese boys.

I believe the rocks in this fireplace were from the ranch and built by Justin's grandparents. I love how much history and family heirlooms were involved in their day.

This flower girl stole the show for sure!

Krissy and Justin's bridal party were such a kick. Thanks for all of your help and humor everyone!

What a pair. Krissy and Justin are so made for each other which makes capturing their relationship on camera such a joy.

For the reception they made these place cards with the different brands. So cute! Plus I just loved their directional signs. Great job Krissy. You are so amazing and your vision for this day came together perfectly.

The food was prepared by none other than Gary of Phil's Catering. Just look at that tri-tip. Perfect! However, I think I could have just eaten an entire plate of his potatoes. They melted in my mouth. Yum! I cannot imagine cooking for over 200 people and having everything turn out so perfect. Wonderful job Gary and crew.

As I was photographing this cake all I could smell was the amazing frosting. Yummy! Christine, you blow me away. This cake was so pretty, moist and delicious. I love adding the apples for Krissy's green color.

Justin drove Krissy and I up to the top of a ridge to grab this shot (did I mention we had to be in 4WD low to make it up to the top, and not on a road, great driving Justin.) Krissy wanted to get the sunset and Justin was willing to do whatever his new bride wanted. So sweet.

We spied this barn on our way up to the ridge and had to stop on the way back. Thanks guys for being so willing to climb into the bushes to get the shot.

The centerpieces were created by Krissy and a crew of her friends. They gathered branches from around the ranch and put these crystals all over them. The perfect touch and they reflected the light in the barn.

I have never seen a dance floor so packed for the entire reception. Chris Bailey was amazing. He chose the perfect music to keep the party at a 10.

I love this shot at the end of the night. The amazing Summer Schmitz, my second photographer and partner in crime, grabbed this just before we wrapped up the photos.

Emily's House was the perfect getting ready spot for Dana and her girls. Dana's dad found this house a few months back and decided it would be a great place to stay and a wonderful backdrop for the getting ready shots. He was so right. All of the details in the house were so fun and added so much to the photos.

The bouquet floral designs by Panacea were just spot on perfect. They were so sweet, creative and dainty. The perfect compliment for the day.

I love this shot taken by the famous Summer Schmitz, our second shooter. We were not able to gain access to the balcony during the retrofitting of the Mission so it was such a joy to be able grab these overall shots.

Dana and Allan's bridal party were so much fun and such great help throughout the day. It was such a pleasure to meet you all!

Love those arches at Robert Hall. The setting really is a photographers dream. Not only are there amazing rolling vineyard landscapes, but then there are so many grand architectural structures to use in the photos. We had so much fun experimenting with different angles and ideas.

These two are sooo cute!

The food was simply amazing. I just don't understand how Trumpet Vine does it, every time. Even the asparagus were perfect. I can't even make asparagus come out like that for my family, much less the 200 + people Trumpet Vine Catering were preparing meals for.

This is one of the sweetest cakes I have seen. Wonderful job by The Cakery. The bow on the front is so perfect. Amazing.
It was wonderful to work with Brian Owens and his team. They are so considerate as to where I need to be to get the best shot and they are in constant communication with me so we are all working together for the best possible outcome for Dana and Allan.

These shots were taken in the bell tower. Even the architecture in there was stunning.

Melissa from Kramer Entertainment was mixen it up for the dancers on the dance floor. Check out this extravagant lighting setup by Kramer Entertainment. Robert Hall Winery is so amazing, but at night it would be such a waste if it wasn't lit like this. So spectacular. Wherever your event may be I highly recommend adding lighting design to it. It will make the atmosphere so much more inviting and exciting, plus the photos are so rich.

This final shot was an inspiration from the best man. He had attended a wedding at Robert Hall and just loved the shots from the barrel room so he rounded the bridal party up for a late night session in the barrel room. Such an amazing place.

Congratulations Dana and Allan. You two are so made for each other. It has been such a pleasure to get to know you, your family and friends. Thank you so much for giving me the honor to capture this most important day in your lives.

Check out this bouquet. Tiffanie was more than thrilled with how the flowers turned out. She said they were even better than she had pictured them to be! Coming from an artistic bride, that is a huge compliment. A wonderful job by Denise and her team! It was such a joy to capture their creations.

Look at that face! You are gorgeous girl! Tiffanie was so willing to trust me and try several different poses. Her amazing makeup was done by the talented and super sweet Gina Pierce.

Eric was just a little excited to be getting married to his best friend. I definitely cried more than once on Saturday.

The setting at Sycamore couldn't be more amazing. Plus, all of their staff went above and beyond to make sure this day was perfect. A big thanks goes out to Trena the Event Designer at Sycamore. She spoiled us. She was so easy going, but made sure everyone was taken care of and where they needed to be.

I heard rave reviews from the guests about this amazing cake from The Cakery. Which is no surprise!

Summer and I just loved all the centerpieces designed by Flowers By Denise. Each table had a different arrangement. They were the perfect touch for the room. Not too big, but certainly made a statement. I am such a fan of the curly willow and the organic feeling it brings to a room.

What a sweet first dance. The lighting provided by Kramer Entertainment added so much to the atmosphere.

There was even a breakdancer at their wedding! This ring bearer stole the show for sure.

Once again, Kramer Entertainment packs the dance floor. Tiffanie couldn't wait to celebrate with her new husband and all of their close friends and family. What a fabulous time.

Jamie and Dusty Will Tie the Knot

How fun are Jamie and Dusty. They were so willing to try many different ideas and brought ideas of their own as well. LOVE IT!

Their upcoming wedding at Peacock Farms will be nothing short of amazing I am sure.

As we were designing this session I thought of a couple of different locations that would fit what Jamie and Dusty were looking for. My dear friend Janet Power gave us full access to her amazing property in Arroyo Grande for part of our session. The long wavy grass and hay barn were perfect.

This was such a sweet idea...Jamie and Dusty "tie the knot!" A perfect shot for their save the dates.

This mustard field was unbelievable. Plus, their color coordination. Perfect!

Jamie and Dusty were such great sports and tried this "gettaway shot" for me with one of my newest props.
Congratulations you two! Your wedding will be here before you know it.

I recently attended WPPI (Wedding and Professional Photographers International) in Las Vegas. We were challenged by one of the speakers, Kevin Kubota, to take on a personal project of an alphabet scavenger hunt around Vegas to sharpen our skills.

At any rate...the speaker posted all of the participants on this gallery and whoever's alphabet receives the most votes will will $1000 in software etc. Which I will use to continue making pictures unique and creative.

So Sweet...

So...Christine and Shawn flew out from New York for their central coast engagement session. This was the first time we had gotten to meet in person and we hit it off right away!

They are so sweet together and so trusting of where I set up different shots, how to pose and relax and have fun! Plus, they have a creative side so they caught the visions for the shots right away.

We set up their session in Arroyo Grande. We first headed to Talley Vineyards. Even though the vines are dormant this time of year their property is still so amazing. If you enjoy the country side and wine tasting you must take a trip out to Talley.

Next we headed up to The Casistas of Arroyo Grande. A quaint bed and breakfast owned by innkeepers Pat and Tony Goetz. Their property is such a sweet surprise. The view of the Arroyo Grande valley is amazing. It is a wonderful getaway, plus the perfect spot for your wedding and/or rehearsal dinner. The rooms make a wonderful backdrop for getting ready photos.

Top 10 Bridal Faire Survival Tips

I just returned from attending a mega wedding photographers trade show in Vegas. Here are some tips I learned to help make your bridal faire experiences super helpful, fun and not so overwhelming!

1. Make a plan of what you want accomplish (i.e. I need a florist/DJ/Photographer)

2. Look through the list of vendors who will be at the show online

3. Browse through their websites, write down specific questions - or email your questions to each vendor

4. Make a list of the top 3-5 you want to talk to at the faire

5. Go see those vendors first (browse later)

6. Make notes about each one (if you are a note kind of person.) I find this helps me remember my impressions. After seeing everyone at the bridal faire you might forget a few details.

7. Bring labels with your contact information (name, address, email, wedding date) to put on entry forms

8. I saw one bride with an expandable folder at the last show I was at. She had it labeled with the different vendors (i.e. wedding coordinators/flowers/photographers...etc.) Then she would put the different hand outs from each one into their designated spot. This way she didn't have to organize it when she got home.

9. Only collect information from vendors you are truly interested in.

10. Bring your maid of honor, your mom, your mother-in-law...your man! Anyone who can help you stay organized, have fun and help with decisions.

Fashion Shoot in Vegas...Babe!

I attend the WPPI (Wedding and Portrait Photographers International) conference in Las Vegas last week. So amazing! This is the big one for wedding photographers. I had the honor of attending seminars led by so many of the industry's great photographers. Talk about inspirational. From new album designs and tons of posing ideas I am so excited for this year.

OK...well these models worked for free. I was out on "assignment" and found these beauties, who were being completely ignored. I couldn't resist capturing these girls. The assignment I was really supposed to be capturing was an alphabet scavenger hunt. A what? Well, one of the speakers, Kevin Kubota, encouraged us to make sure we take on personal assignments to keep our skills and creativity sharp. So, from an assignment he gives in his boot camp workshops he assigned us (those who were really brave) to tackle Vegas and capture organic shapes that looked like the letters of the alphabet. So, no signs with the actual letters. This was HARD! But, I loved it. The hilarious thing was how many people saw me taking pictures of very obscure things that would stop me and ask me to take a picture of them with their camera. So fun to 'give back' and help these people out with their memories of Las Vegas.

Magnificent Magnolia at San Luis Mission

Early this week I was meeting a family for a portrait session at The Mission in San Luis Obispo. I wandered around back to the gardens to collect my ideas because things are always changing back there. I was so amazed by the Magnolia Tree and knew we had to use it some of the shots. What a blessing to be there at that perfect time. It looked like it had snowed blossoms everywhere.

Synergy Salon was the perfect place to start with photos. We just had a break in the rain when I arrive, such a blessing. Shannon and her girls seemed very relaxed getting ready for the big day. Synergy Salon has such a refreshing atmosphere and plenty of space.

Next, Summer and I headed out to the barn. We were excited to see some blue sky.

Judi Powers at the Dana Powers Barn does such an amazing job with not only a wonderful place for weddings and receptions, but all of the little touches just make the event so unique.

Shannon walked down the ailse to the theme song from the movie "The Princess Bride" - loved that idea! Thanks to Melissa from Kramer Entertainment!

Shannon was such a trooper in her boots. We had to utilize the puddles from the recent down poor that morning.

In Daddy's arms...

These twins were so incredible. Not only are they amazingly sweet, they were such troopers for their debut photo session. What a blessing to be able to capture these miracles.

This session was held in this family's home. A sort of 'studio to you'. This way the babies were as comfortable as possible allowing us to capture everything we planned, and more.

I am looking forward to watching these two grow and become best friends.

Congratulations to Tiffanie and Eric! We had a blast with their engagement session in Cambria, California. We were so blessed to have chosen the one day it didn't rain. Everything was so fresh and clean.

Tiffanie and Eric were so sweet together and jumped right into the session. Their wardrobe was very impressive and perfectly coordinated not to be to matchy-match.

I just love their "how we met" story as well. Especially told by Eric. Too sweet! I am looking forward to the big day you two. It will be here before we know it.

A Mountaintop Wedding

Jocelyn and Nick were married at Figueroa Mountain just outside the beautiful Los Olivos wine country. Their friends and family came from around the world to celebrate and witness their commitment to each other. What a glorious day it was with an amazing backdrop.

Jocelyn and Nick were escourted 'down the ailse' by their parents who were so adoring of their children and so happy for them.

It was a bit chilly on this November day and Nick was always making sure his bride was warm.

Gretchen is the coordinator from the Figueroa Farmhouse, what a jewel to work with. She was so easy-going, which was just what Joc and Nick needed.

The staff from Santa Barbara BBQ were amazing to work with as well. Not only was the food incredible, their care and service of the guests and us photographers did not go unnoticed.

It certainly takes a team of people to make weddings run seamlessly for the bride and groom and I was honored to get to work with all of the vendors Joc and Nick selected.

Joc & Nick ~ Thank you so much for having us. Summer and I enjoyed getting to know you and your friends and family. You two are such wonderful friends and make such a great couple. Blessings for the years to come!

Amber and Brian sent each other gifts while they were getting ready. Brian gave Amber a necklace with both of their birthstones...so sweet. Amber gave Brian an engraved harmonica with "Let's make beautiful music! Forever yours, Amber"

The groomsmen were awesome! The amazing Summer, our second shooter, had so much fun capturing some great poses. Good job guys!

Amber's girls were so supportive and sweet. Working to help make all the details come together. Everything turned out perfect! Thanks for all of your help girls.

The food prepared by Phoenix was incredible. There was an amazing ginger pork combination that just danced in your mouth.

OK...this was so rad. After the bouquet toss, Amber was getting ready for the garter removal. After she sat down Brian and his guy friends surrounded her and sang "You've Lost that Loving Feeling" ala Top Gun. Loved it!

Mike did such an amazing job with the song selection, everyone kept dancing all night and wanted more music even though it was pretty chilly.

The amazing Summer, my second shooter, captured this image while we were still shooting at the church. The true beauty of having a second shooter is your hours are doubled during parts of the day.

What a blessing to be a part of your day! You two are such genuine and dear people. I am so happy you found each other, or really...God put you together for a purpose.

Chloe and Tom orchestrated every detail with such a balance between their two personalities. Chloe walked down the isle to a song she wrote and Tom arranged for the quartet titled "Beautiful For You". Placed around the ceremony were butterflies and at the reception Legos. Each with a specific meaning for the body of believers with freedom and how we all are interlinked and work together.

This dress was made by Jacquie's mom. It included hoops and everything. Very Victorian and amazing.

This dress was made by Jacquie's grandmother for the later part of the reception. It fit her perfectly. What a talented and dedicated family.

Jacquie's hair made me think of Princess Buttercup from the movie "The Princess Bride".

Cover Ups really transformed the reception room. What an elegant display.

This ring bearer was hilarious. He certainly came close to stealing the show. His "glasses" were a make-up compact given to his mom, one of the bridesmaids.

Their flower girl was so amazing and sweet. Once she got going she was ready to party all night.

Jacquie's mom walked her down the aisle. So precious.

This wedding hoopah saved the day with the sun. It was so beautiful and added such a presence to their wedding. Plus, it filtered the sun just perfectly for some amazing photo ops.

Mariah from Ventana Grill did such an amazing job coordinating the entire event. She is such a joy to work with. Thanks for making our job so much easier Mariah! We really appreciate your at ease personality.

Look closely and you can see Luis and Jacquie in the gazebo...say cheese!

Look out Sean Dasmann...your next MC is ready to take the mic. The ring bearer said he wanted to say something for a toast. But, then when he got the mic he gave it to the guy sitting behind him to speak. So funny!

The slide show presentation Summer pulled together of the photos during the day. It ran the remainder of the reception with personalized cards inviting the guests to visit their photos online.

This was the sweetest thing ever...the flower girl is Jacquie's niece. Well, she didn't understand exactly what was going on and thought Jacquie's dress needed to be down for this part of the evening.

Jacquie and Luis, you are certainly best friends. It has been such a pleasure getting to know you through your wedding journey. I wish you all the best in this next part of your life together. Thank you for letting us be a part of your amazing day.

So sweet and sophisticated...I love this bouquet. I cannot believe Mariella even had a green couch in her getting ready room. So perfect with her green/orange colors.

Mariela even played.."I'm Going to the Chapel" on her iPhone on the way to the Mission. Every detail was covered!

On the way to the Mission it started to rain. It felt so much like we were in Austria or Germany traveling in this amazing car down the tree lined road in Solvang.

So the amazing Summer Schmitz, my associate photographer, took this shot. She was standing out in the rain, holding an umbrella and shooting at the same time. Summer you are such a blessing to work with!

I just love this flower girl basket. So elegant and rustic. The organic basket really offsets the flowers so well.

The Mariachi Band was in the balcony for the ceremony. They really made the atmosphere such a celebration.

Look at these Chuck's. Humberto had them embroidered and he had the idea for this shot.

Mariela and Humberto, you two are so sweet. I was so blessed to be a part of this time in your lives. Thank you for sharing this time with me. Your colors are so cheery just like the two of you.
